Inspiration Folder

Inspiration is at every turn! I love selling at the vintage markets because I never know what lies around the corner. At Shernett Swaby's studio I saw the spools of thread....inspiration found. At Randolph Street Market I saw these geometric cubes and at The North Shore Flea I was so happy with my mannequin gearing up for Fall. I LOVE what I do and I hope I can share my inspiration and enthusiasm with you.....

New Merchandise at Estate Chicago

The past three weeks have been just MILESTONES IN MY CAREER! Officially signed up to exhibit in Brimfield and will be setting up at the Zurko Promotions Wheaton All-Nighter this Saturday.
Just today an interview went up on ArtandAntiques.com about the Randolph Market with a photo of lil 'ol me. (I should have taken off the hat)

Barrington Arboretum Antique Show Photos

http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.196415653747142.72991.142203299168378

I love SteepleChase Antiques....great inspiration...
This week I plan on finishing a few upholstery projects and hitting up Direct Auction for some new finds!

Barrington Arboretum Antiques Show

This Sunday was one of my favorite VISUAL shows. I love the way Karrin from SteepleChase Antiques displays her primitive woods, upholstered antique chairs and her fabulous lighting and smalls. Some of my favorite vendors are there, like Diane Passi, Diane Landry and Tangerine Vintage. The show is set in gorgeous Barrington next to a fabulous fountain. Whole Foods has cooking demos and there are many garden and architectural pieces perfect to decorate my floral fantasies. Next show is Sept 18th... I will be at Vintage Bazaar instead but look for me in Barrington in 2012!

Logan Love

Those of you who know me know how much I loved my neighborhood LOGAN SQUARE! We moved here 1o years ago when many people would not dare to go west of WESTERN. Take a look at our walk up and down the historic boulevard. Our adventure began right after a monster storm that took town trees and flooded the area. Happy Viewing!

More on 34 Event

I had the pleasure of attending MORE ON 34 with Lisa Strecker from BLAST FROM THE PAST LinkDESIGNS last month. We drove all the way to the QUAD CITIES in search of undiscovered treasures. Highlights included a huge 50's hat lot in an old barn that literally was filled to the rafters and a fiberglass lampshade in perfect condition. Take a look at a few photos from our escapade...

Button Beginnings

For those of you who know how I got started in antiques, know how I began with a boatload of buttons. My mom was a huge sewing collector, probably one of the largest in the Midwest. She was a member of the Illinois Button Society as well as the NSBS. Well, as a kid it really wasn't my cup of tea.
Years passed.....
When she moved, I did the best I could to sell buttons on Ebay, Craigslist and in person with other dealers and collectors. Now, I am pleased to announce, I am offering them on Etsy....the real good ones.

The ones that were carded, juried for competition and the rare and best of the sewing collectible market. So stay tuned and BUTTON UP!

Cat's PJ's Fashion Show in Elgin

Last year my goal was to finally exhibit at the Cat's Pajama's show in Elgin. Thanks to my lovely friend Pinar, I finally accomplished that goal. We loaded in right away, checked out the AMAZING assortment of Midwest vendors and then got dolled up for an evening of Rockabilly music, dancing and drinks....and selling vintage of course!

Etsy Shop Update

For the past two weeks I have been trying to build up the Etsy shop and get all of my jewels photographed. http://www.etsy.com/shop/estatechicago
After starting the site I now am part of the EcoChic team which is a vintage jewelry sellers team and have been featured in many treasuries. The whole process has been rather fun. So I will give you a glimpse of new merchandise to be added.....

Several people from Letizia's stopped by which is the new cafe next door. Be sure to visit me....I'm here till Feb 1st!

Feathered and Inflight Friends

About a year ago, I became infatuated with feather jewelry, stems from my love of the kingfisher in India. I love the idea of ANYTHING behind glass so Deco sterling mounted feathers fell right in line with that notion. My favorite designer of this style is THOMAS MOTT. He made exquisite settings, from butterfly wing pendants to bright pins.

Irice Perfume Bottles

Irice perfume bottles were one of the first things I started collecting. I feel in love with the little jewel tops and the wire Czech filigree frames. I have seen many on online auctions and there are dangling Bakelite people, fruit dangles and little dogs and cats too! The Irice brand is by W. I. Rice and was sold in upscale department stores in New York. Antique miniature perfume bottles are highly collectible and certainly those with Czech glass fetch top dollar.

Brie's Estate Sale in Edgebrook

Checked out Brie's this morning, saw a bunch of vintage aficionados out on the prowl. I scored a Lark travel hat box and a Marshall fields hat. As for jewelry I picked up a KJL chain and an Art Deco necklace. Hope to see everyone @Wheaton this Saturday 8-3!
